Set Up Your Recording Studio Pick your spot Your going to want to pick a spot a wall or flat surface (this will be the backdrop behind you) You also want to make sure you pick a spot with good lighting, otherwise you will have to bring in extra lighting to make up for it. Position the table for your mixer and laptop about 2-4ft away from the wall (depending on space and size of green screen if you have one) Use tacks to pin your green screen to the wall (this will allow us to overlay visuals into your set) It is important that you iron any wrinkles out of the green screen and pin it tight for optimum Visual Performance. Once you have everything set up and plugged in, hide any wires that you can, hang up any props or merch and make sure that your green screen takes up the entire camera frame (you may need to move your table back if you can see the edge of the green screen in frame) NO ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE CAN BE IN FRAME FOR THE LIVE STREAM THIS INCLUDES MARIJUANA AND MARIJUANA PARAPHERNALIA! Set up hardware Once you have your studio how you like it you may start plugging in all of your hardware like your mixer, lights, Midi, Cameras, etc. Plug in any lights you have and position them out of frame, facing the green screen on either side of you to eliminate any shadows that may be casting on the green screen. You can find decent lights at Walmart and amazon, the LED rings work best. Plug your microphone into your mixer (if you have one) Install OBS Studio OBS for Windows OBS for macOS OBS for Linux Output Mix Audio to PC Rekordbox DJ Streaming with OBS + a DDJ (Windows) Streaming with OBS + DJM (Windows) Streaming with OBS + DDJ-1000 (Mac) Streaming with OBS + DDJ-SB / SB2 / SR (Mac) Streaming with OBS + DDJ-RR (Mac) Streaming with OBS + DDJ-RB (Mac) Serato DJ Streaming with OBS + Serato DJ Virtual DJ If you go to your VDJ Audio Options, you can add a NEW output. Set it to "Master" and then select "Built-in Output." This will add an additional copy of the master-output going over your computers's speakers, which OBS and WireCast can pick up. If the sound from the computer bothers you, you can mute the speakers without affecting the output. Just make sure you mute the "monitor" from your live streaming software or you'll end up with a continuous audio loop. Set Up Your Camera’s Plug your external camera into your computer and position it so that your green screen takes up the entire frame, you’ll want your mixer and most and midi pad in frame as well if possible. Open OBS Studio, Add Source, Video Capture Device, Name it, Press OK, Click the Device Drop down menu, Select your Camera, leave settings to default and press okay. If you can't find your video device, try restarting your computer and make sure everything's is properly plugged in. If you are using an external USB HUB make sure it is a powered HUB and plugged in. You can set up multiple camera angles in different scenes and switch between them during your set if you’d like. There are plenty of advanced OBS tutorials on the internet if you want to layer multiple video captures in one scene. As long as you have both Audio and Video working smoothly in OBS you are good to go. Run a test by pressing record in OBS and playing a few tracks. Stop the recording and play it back to make sure audio was captured correctly. If not run through the appropriate steps to make sure your mixer audio is outputting to your PC. Green Screen Set Up IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT TO HAVE A GREEN SCREEN BUT IF YOU DON’T GET ONE WE CANNOT OVERLAY VISUALS INTO YOUR SET!!! You can get cheap green screens at these sites below. Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Photography-Backdrop-Background-Chromakey-Muslin/dp/B07G7NSSZ9/ref=sr_1_8?crid=39WQ653F0GFQC&dchild=1&keywords=chromakey+green+screen&qid=1589064564&sprefix=chroma%2Caps%2C157&sr=8-8 Walmart: you can sometimes find them online or you can find rolls of Chroma key polyester in the stores Search for Chroma Key green fabric/polyester (they sells fast these days so wherever you can find one grab it) If you can’t get a green screen in time to record your set ask us if there is studio time available or film in front of a flat single color wall and we can work with it! Pin the green screen to the wall as tight and flush to the wall as possible. Iron out any wrinkles, this can be done with low heat while its on the wall. Set up bright LED lights between you and the green screen that are out of frame to eliminate shadows cast on the green screen. Now you are ready to record!!!
